Seasons – Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow

Narrative concert by the Filarmonici Friulani Youth Orchestra and Luca Mercalli

A common thread is linking the Venetian “Little Ice Age” of the 18th century with today’s climate crisis. It is intertwined with the gales of the Aegean Sea and the ironic contrast between Würm (the name of the last great ice age, which ended about 10,000 years ago) and Warm, “hot” (i.e. the characteristic that will become increasingly evident in future climate).

The Filarmonici Friulani Youth Orchestra and meteorologist Luca Mercalli unravel and describe this journey through time in “Seasons – Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow”. The change of the seasons and how they evolve to our eyes will be told through the music of A. Salieri, A. Vivaldi, F. Schubert, F. J. Haydn, L. Gioco accompanied by original texts.

The concert is unprecedented also in its musical aspect. The composer Lorenzo Gioco, who has taken care of the arrangements, has exalted the descriptive character and created a modern timbric reinterpretation of each piece, so that it can speak at the same time the three languages of the past, the present and the future.
